Alfsvaag Wells -- Bud Wells -- CLR -- Crazy Man Creek

News / Updates

December 19, 2024: rig on #41023. If the rig walked down the pad, this should be the last well to be drilled:

October 5, 2024: rig on #41020:

Background

Deed:

September 28, 2024: the current map --

September 26, 2024
: here's the permit for the sixth well, one of the three new Alsvaag wells.

September 25, 2024 it appears CLR is now drilling the new Bud / Alfsvaag wells in Crazy Man Creek.

If I'm reading everything correctly, here are six new wells; they will have large spacing units: 4.5 sections = 2880 acres. Right now, the map shows a rig on #41022. I can't find the permit / spacing unit for #41013 (Alfsvaag FIU 6-31H), but based on other available information, I assume it has the same spacing unit. Bottom line: it looks like CLR is now drilling six more Bud / Alfsvaag wells, all of which the reader will participate in. The maps:

August 13, 2024
: CLR with five new permits -- three new Bud wells and two new Alfsvaag Federal permits, all to be sited in NENE section 31-153-99; all with exact same spacing unit as the earlier Alfsvaag FIU well (#41013, see below, with permit from August 10, 2024); spacing unit 2880 acres, sections  19, 30, 31 - 153-99 and section 3-152-100 and north half section 10-152-100; 2880 acres. Bottom hole: SWNE 10-152-100. Reader has minerals in section 19 and section 30 153-99; bottom holes for each of the five new wells (which is probably true also for the sixth well, #41013):

  • 41019, Bud FIU 6-30H, bottom hole, NWNE 19-153-99;
  • 41020, Alfsvaag Federal 7-31H, bottom hole, SENE 10-152-100;
  • 41021, Bud FIU 7-30H, bottom hole, NENE 19-153-99;
  • 41022, Alfsvaag Federal 8-31H, bottom hole, SENE 10-152-100;
  • 41023, Bud FIU 8-30H, bottom hole, NENE 19-153-99;

August 10, 2024: CLR with permit for another Alfsvaag well, same spacing unit as those below; spacing unit 2880 acres, sections  19, 30, 31 - 153-99 and section 3-152-100 and north half section 10-152-100; 2880 acres. Bottom hole: SWNE 10-152-100. Reader has minerals in section 19 and section 30 153-99;

August 31, 2019:

  • CLR has five Alfsvaag wells in Crazy Man Creek
  • Tucker participates in four of those five Alfsvaag wells
  • Only because of the spacing unit, Tucker did not participate in the first Alfsvaag well
The Alfsvaag wells that Tucker participates in :
  • 30238, 1,439, CLR, Alfsvaag 4-31H, Crazy Man Creek, t9/17; cum 279K 6/19; spacing unit 19, 20, 31 - 153-99 and section 3-152-100 and north half section 10-152-100; 2880 acres.
  • 30237, 1,782, CLR, Alfsvaag 4-31H, Crazy Man Creek, t8/17; cum 100K 6/19;
  • 28936, 849, CLR, Alfsvaag 2-31H, Crazy Man Creek, t3/15; cum 373K 6/19;
  • 28935, 852, CLR, Alfsvaag 3-31H1, Crazy Man Creek, t3/15; cum 205K 6/19;
Tucker does not participate in this Alfsvaag well:
  • 22986, 613, CLR, Alfsvaag 1-31H, Crazy Man Creek, t10/12; cum 435K 6/19; spacing unit: section 31-153-99 (640 acres) plus section 3-152-100 (640 acres) plus north half section 10-152-100 (320 acres) = 1600 acres.
These wells are very near CLR's Long Creek Unit (60 wells in one unit) to the east in Long Creek oil field.

In the graphic below, the "red stars" represent the 10-section unit in which CLR will place 60 wells in its "Long Creek Unit."

The "blue stars" represent the two sections in which Tucker has mineral rights. The wells in section 30 are the Alfsvaag wells.

The lone well to the east, in section 29, is a Hess SC-Foster well, #21469, Crazy Man Creek, section 20-153-99; 1280-acre, sections 29/32-153-99.

The Dahl Wells

April 3, 2024: lots of information -- division order, comments and new maps. Reader received a "DO" notification by e-mail regarding a Dahl well southeast of Williston. Also, comparison of the Dahl well with the Brakken well.

Division order: the well ---

  • Dahl 15-11H REVISED RIVER
  • unit interest: 0.00026437
  • T153N-R101W, Sections 2 & 11

From the reader: "reader" just called (11:30 a.m., April 3, 2024) SM Energy to have her DO sent to her by USPS.

"Debbie." at SM Energy, who she talked to, said this would be a one time payment. And it goes back to a river dispute re one of the Dahl wells. SM Energy was the operator at the time of the dispute. The Dahl wells are now operated by Oasis. Oasis asked SM Energy to make this payment since SM Energy was the operator at the time of the dispute.
"Reader" didn’t know how big the check would be.
For mineral owners who didn’t get an email, they may not have had your email on file, so you may be getting your DO by USPS.

Comments:

  • this is the only Dahl well that was drilled by SM and that's from whom the reader received the division order. All the other Dahl wells are Oasis wells.
  • the Dahl Federal #21266 is now operated by Oasis.
