Reported Earlier -- Zabolotny Wells -- April 23, 2025

Locator: 48485B.

Quarterly leases results, link here. At that link, scroll down to "auction results."

Quarterly lease results, August 2024, link here. Below is a screenshot of part of page six (6) from a seven-page report. The typical bonus for a mineral acre in the Bakken is in the $2 - $16 range. "Good" areas will get bonuses of $100 to $300. I seldom see bonuses greater than $1,000 per acre. That puts the bonuses in the screenshot below in perspective.

There were four parcels bid on in section 36-145-98: NE, NW, SE, SW.

Petro-Hunt and Phoenix Capital Group are willing to pay a bonus of upwards of $5,000 / acre. Seldom do I see bonuses that high.

So, I was curious, where is section 36-145-98? See this map:

Note: there is only one producing well sited in that section, and that well is only sited there. The production from that well is coming from the south, not from the section in which the well is actually sited. There are no horizontal wells in section 145-98-36. Hopefully folks can put "2+2+ together.

So, what well is that well that is sited there, in the far southeast corner of 145-98-36?

Zabolotny?

That sounded familiar. A long time ago a reader sent me this, a screenshot from her deed, because the reader had a question about the Zabolotny well:

I'll stop there for now and send the reader this link and begin a discussion if the reader has questions.

The new wells are not likely to be named Zabolotny wells. They could have that name, but more than likely they will have new names.

How Much Was The Winning Bid?

Each of the four parcels above were for eighty (80) acres.

Rounding, $5,000/acre x 80 acres =  8 * 5 * 1,0000 == 40 x 1,000 = 4 x 10,000 = $400,000.

At $50 / bbl, that works out to 8,000 bbls -- assuming all the math is correct -- or around $1.5 million for 320 acres, or $3.0 million for one mineral section (640 acres). Again, I often make simply arithmetic errors. Feel free to fact check. Yes, not all parcels had a bonus of $5,000 / acre. But it certainly suggests operators have a feeling there will be some great wells in this area.

That Zabolotny well, #37987, see this post:

Kraken Wells Of Interest -- Reader's Wells -- Production -- April 17, 2025

According to a reader, the production/pay statements dated March 31, 2025, reveals that, except for one well, in addition to the most recent month (January, 2025) the company also provided data for one other month: April, 2024.

The other thing to note: after several months of no "runs" being reported by several wells, all wells are now back on line!

Production data:

It's very likely the Kraken wells were taken off line while Hess drilled their GO-Seaton wells which were sited in the same area. The Hess and Kraken horizontals are running in the opposite direction and won't affect each other. It's simply Kraken taking wells off line while wells in the immediate area being drilled / fracked.

Petro-Hunt Wells In The Charlson Are Particularly Exciting

The Petro-Hunt wells in Charlson oil field are some of the most exciting wells in the Bakken.

A reader shared with me the wells in which they have interests. The reader's interests are very, very low, so the reader does not receive much in the way of royalties from these wells.

For me, I'm not concerned about the royalties: I simply find the data incredibly interesting and more than happy to share the data with the reader.

In a long note like this with lots of data and lots of numbers, there will be content and typographical errors; I will correct them as I find them.

Update

April 2, 2025: I have gone the reader's production statement dated March 24, 2025, for royalties paid through February, 2025, in some cases, and through January, 2025, in almost all cases.

The reader has:

  • total number of wells
    • on his production statement from the company: 44 wells
    • on his personal spreadsheet: 45 wells
    • the difference: one well
      • 38359, conf, Sherven Trust 153-95-27A-26-1H, started reporting production in February, 2025
      • in addition, it's possible there are issues with the deed regarding this company
    • the reader says she will work with the company on this deed; it's happened before
  • Zabolotny wells, new:
    • of interest: the two new Zabolotny wells (#40203 and #40325) are now on the company's production statement
  • catch-up:
    • two wells have several pages of production reported for 2024, readers' wells:
      • #25, NDIC #30183, company # 118-20500, Sherven Trust 153-95-27A-7HS; and,
    • #32, NDIC #33905, company # 118-21867, USA 153-95-9A-4-1HS;
  • miscellaneous production:
    • many wells, also included production for:
      • Apr, 2023, or
      • June, 2023, and, often
      • January, 2025
    • at least one well also included production for:
      • August, 2024

Update

March 8, 2025: the Original Post was for production through November, 2024. Since then I have updated data through January, 2025. The narrative below reflects only that data trorugh the original spreadsheet (through November, 2024).

Original Post

A reader shared with me the wells in which they have interests. The reader's interests are very, very low, so the reader does not receive much in the way of royalties from these wells.

For me, I'm not concerned about the royalties: I simply find the data incredibly interesting and more than happy to share the data with the reader.

In a long note like this with lots of data and lots of numbers, there will be content and typographical errors; I will correct them as I find them.

Takeaways:

  • from the reader's production statement, I count 45 wells;
    • this accounts for all wells of which I am aware for this reader
  • the most recent production station shows production data through November 2024
  • three wells (#43, #44, and #45 in the spreadsheet below) were not on the most recent production statement
    • one is still confidential and reporting no "runs";
    • two of the wells have just recently come off confidential list and have only reported production for last three months
    • the third well, #38359, is most likely producing but it is still on confidential list; this well will come off confidential list this next week (February 8, 2025)
  • the jump in total production for these 45 wells has jumped significantly
    • April, 2024: 66,920 bbls
    • November, 2024: 105,697 bbls
  • the reader's most recent statement did not include production of:
    • 28,380 bbls in November, 2024
    • 22,729 bbls in October, 2024
    • 3,381 bbls in September, 2024
  • many older wells had significant increases in production, most likely from newer wells being fracked and affecting neighboring wells positively (whoo-hoo)

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Very, very interesting:

  • most wells in the most recent production statement were for production in the month of November, 2024
  • many wells in the most recent production statement also included production from December, 2024

Huge exceptions:

  • Operator: 118-19431, NDIC #27055, Van Hise Trust 153-95-28D-21-1HS
  • months of November, 2024, and December, 2024, but also
  • months of September, 2023; July, 2024; March, 2024; February, 2024; November, 2023; January, 2024; April, 2024;

Also interesting to some extent:

  • most wells in the most recent production statement were for production in the month of November, 2024
  • many wells in the most recent production statement also included production from December, 2024
